Fall is here again. The leaves are starting to change, flip flops have been packed back into storage, and unless there is a bonfire, it is too chilly to enjoy the evenings outside. It is also a great time to enjoy autumn festivals and fairs. While I was browsing through the paper to see the schedule of a local county fair, I happen to notice an ad for a game called Cow Chip Bingo. Automatically, the first vision that pops in my head is of bingo players seated at their tables, bingo cards in front of them and in place of bingo daubers…well, you can fill in the rest. It was hard for me to believe that anyone would want to play or that it would be sanitarily safe. Upon looking into this further, I verified that players are not as “hands on” with Cow Chip Bingo as I had originally thought. Turns out organizers use paint to mark an open area off in marked squares. Squares are then purchased by the players. The cows are let loose in the area and the first one to “mark” a square wins it for the player that drew that square. This makes a lot more sense than my first image. While I was looking into the rules for this game, I noticed a related article called Chicken Splat Bingo. Who knew that farm animals like to play Bingo too?
Halloween is right around the corner. Don’t be left in the dark without a spooktacular Dabbinstein Halloween Dauber. You can see him along with other ghoulish daubers at Wholesale Bingo Supplies ! Happy Haunting!

Eleven people, four Alabama state senators and seven others, were charged by federal agents with being involved in a bribery scheme to pass electronic gaming legislation. And a related case involves a $2 million campaign donation, to one of the senators involved, from a lobbyist.
In 2009 and 2010 casino owners and lobbyists tried to get legislation to make electronic bingo legal in the state of Alabama. Although unsuccessful, the Justice Department informed leaders in Alabama before the state House refused to pass the bill.
The people charged with the crimes include Milton McGregor, owner of VictoryLand casino, and Ronald Gilley, a developer involved in a gaming project. They are indicted with hiring lobbyists to buy votes the prosecutors alleged.
The four state senators are Lary Means, Quinton Ross, James Preuitt, and Harri Anne Smith. They were all charged with conspiracy to commit bribery.
Those accused and charged with the crimes attempted to bypass eavesdropping from investigators in some TV crime drama ways. The people involved used what they thought were ‘safe phones’ to bypass electronic eavesdropping. They also used back doors to deliver donations and used in-person meetings in attempt to bypass eavesdropping.

The British Medical Association, BMA, says hospitals should offer patients recreational activities, such as bingo and board games, to help pass the time while they are convalescing. Games keep patients from becoming bored and improve their state of mind, which can help the patients recover faster. Games and activities that help fulfill a patients social needs can speed recovery and even have a positive effect on their view of the hospital. And I think we all can agree that a fun game of bingo help people take their minds off troublesome subjects, so they can relax and have a good time.
If you are a volunteer or you know that your local hospital needs a fun activity, an easy way to start would be a bingo game set. They come with everything you need to play a fun game of bingo. Bingo games sets make it easy for even a novice bingo enthusiast to get a game started.

It’s been said that there is “no money like won money.” But playing Texas Hold ‘Em is so 2005. Fortunately for us, the sheer number of bizarre (and entertaining) ways that gamblers are upping the ante these days is truly hard to believe.
To that end, check out these 15 Most Outrageous Bets Ever Made and make sure to use “restraint” on your next trip to Las Vegas or Atlantic City. The life you save may be your own.
1. The Largest Novelty Bet in History
Nostradamus had nothing on one particular Welshman. In 1989 he made a single novelty bet, for £30 ($47), with the following forecasts:
Ashley Revell took the advice “bet on black” to heart… selling all of his possessions and amassing his savings then putting all of it ($135,300) on a roll of roulette. This video is the aftermath. Fortunately for Ashley…he choose “red.”
3. Fistfight Bet
Jonny Moss felt like pressing his odds, throwing a haymaker at a man who claimed he’d “never lost a fight”. The odds his friends gave were 15 to 1, and apparently for good reason, because Moss ended up in the hospital with multiple broken bones and a few bucks poorer.

The smoking ban in Michigan has negatively impacted many area bingo halls and private clubs. Lower attendance and less member participation since the ban has hurt these nonprofits’ abilities to raise revenues and fund their charitable projects. However, the American Legion Post 444, in Baraga is taking a stand against it.
The American Legion Post 444 has several reasons that they feel compelled to not comply with the new law, but their primary reason is their belief that the state should not be able to regulate smoking policies on private property. An anonymous complaint brought the Health Department in on May 17th, and the post was found to be in violation of the new law. They were ordered to post no-smoking signs, remove ashtrays, and begin enforcing the ban. In response to the Department of Health, Post 444 sent back a letter of their own declaring their opposition to the ban, and claiming exemption from the law. The American Legion Post 444 further states that it is located on L’Anse Federal Indian Reservation land and is forced to compete with two Native American-owned bars.
While they wait for the issue to be resolved, American Legion Post 444 continues to allow smoking in their establishment. It seems that the Post 444 is willing to take this to the highest levels of the court system to protest the enforcement of this new law.

On June 28th of this year, the Michigan Gaming Board made effective Geeektown’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy plan.
In our previous post about Greektown’s troubles, we discussed the recent difficulties that Greektown Casino has been having with their management and property. The newly appointed chairman to the board of directors, is the former president and chief operating officer of the MGM Grand Detroit, George Boyer. Others appointed to the board were John Bitove and Yvette Landau. John Bitove is a radio and sports investor from Toronto. Yvette Landau was the chief legal counsel for Mandalay Resort Group during 1993 to 2005.
CEO Cliff Vallier said in a statement that “Greektown’s exit from bankruptcy eliminates approximately $500 million in debt.”
Money Magazine has rated Ann Arbor, Michigan #46 in the top 100 places to live. And we certainly won’t argue the point. (We might even rank it higher!) While it has a college town atmosphere, as the home of the University of Michigan; there are many other great things about it.

Museums, arts, theaters and movie houses galore, clubs, lakes and charity bingos provide a wealth of activities for other people. You may still have to get your novelty bingo daubers online, though. The article we read suggested that it gains quite a bit of appeal from the nearby city of Detroit, and all the casino and bingo games the Detroit metro area has to offer. From Ann Arbor it is only about a 50 mile drive to get to the casinos and bingos in Detroit. So Ann Arbor gets the best of both worlds, a nice-sized city atmosphere with plenty of its own diversions, and proximity to the metropolitan city attractions.
So if you are looking for a move and want to keep playing bingo playing, then Ann Arbor may be a great choice for you. Just make sure to stock up on your bingo cushions, they can also make those hard University of Michigan stadium seats a lot more comfortable, too!

According to the news article at the Detroit News, investors in the the troubled Greektown Casino claim the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians can not invoke federal laws to assert ownership of the casino property.
Greektown Casino has had some problems previously finding management to run the casino before June 30th. But now U.S. Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Menominee is questioning if the Tribe has any claims according to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court-approved exit from bankruptcy back in January. Bart Stupak has asked for the bankruptcy proceedings to be put on hold as federal officers investigate who has legal ownership over the Casino property located at 1010 Beaubien St.
The Michigan Gaming Control Board has not changed the schedule of the bankruptcy exit strategy. And claims that it will continue on schedule of June 30th.
