Greektown Casino Troubles Pile Higher
According to the news article at the Detroit News, investors in the the troubled Greektown Casino claim the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians can not invoke federal laws to assert ownership of the casino property.
Greektown Casino has had some problems previously finding management to run the casino before June 30th. But now U.S. Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Menominee is questioning if the Tribe has any claims according to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court-approved exit from bankruptcy back in January. Bart Stupak has asked for the bankruptcy proceedings to be put on hold as federal officers investigate who has legal ownership over the Casino property located at 1010 Beaubien St.
The Michigan Gaming Control Board has not changed the schedule of the bankruptcy exit strategy. And claims that it will continue on schedule of June 30th.
