Bingo Halls Help Support Local Charities

Posted by Bingo Bob at 2:08 pm on Thursday, June 17th, 2010

Gulf Breeze Bingo helps support local charities through the games they host. An interview with Judy Pankey who plays bingo weekly claims that bingo has changed with a wide style of bingo games.

Gulf Breeze Bingo supports local charities covering a wide range of help and services. From the National Alliance on Mental Illness to the Gulf Breeze Area Chamber of Commerce. Josh Masino started to volunteer at 18 years old said that he wanted to make a difference in the community. What better way to make a difference in in the community then providing a great game and atmosphere while providing support for charities that can use your help.

From the article Kally Masino said, “Together with our charities and volunteers, we strive for excellent customer service and this has paid off in our existing stores with those charities saying that without bingo revenue, they wouldn’t have been able to keep their doors open.”

According to Josh Masino from the article the volunteers are not paid, which encompasses everyone working on the floor of the bingo halls.

Bingo World Expo 2010

Posted by Bingo Bob at 3:11 pm on Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

This years Bingo World Expo was hosted down in Biloxi, Mississippi by BingoWorld! and the Southern Gaming Summit.

We had a great time down there enjoying all the sights and attractions that Biloxi and the Bingo World Expo had to offer. Also the nice weather was welcome relief from the chilly temperature and rain we had last week in Michigan.

Bingo World Expo 2010

It was good to see the latest in bingo supplies and to peruse new products and games that we can’t always see back home. Of course, not every product we saw is (like bingo styled slot-machines) legal everywhere. Plus there were some great seminars and conference programs that we were able to experience about a wide range of bingo and casino related topics.

So stay tuned for some more updates throughout the week on everything we got to experince at the Bingo World 2010 Expo.

Cosmic Bingo the New Rage in Bingo?

Posted by Bingo Bob at 7:59 am on Saturday, April 17th, 2010

Ever heard of cosmic bingo? Well, if you haven’t seen or heard of it yet, you may soon as it’s popping up more and more around the country’s bingo halls. In fact, they’re even having a class to discuss cosmic bingo at this year’s Bingo World Convention.

What is cosmic bingo? Well, more than a new game, it’s a new style of play. Instead of your classic bingo game, cosmic bingo is more upbeat and higher energy. Played in a darker environment, music is introduced, player interaction is encouraged, and a much more informal game is played. There’s even neon bingo paper! This style of bingo usually waits for the weekends and the later night sessions where people are more willing to let loose a little more. As a result a much younger crowd of bingo players has emerged. Take a look at this bingo video from the Mystic Lake Casino to get a feel for the action.

Cosmic bingo has been very successful and has drawn in younger players. If you think cosmic bingo might be something you’d like to try, let us know and we’ll try to give you some pointers. It’s definately not something you want to surprise your current bingo players with. We think it’s a game that needs to be promoted and introduced perhaps as a special session, allowing it to get a following before it becomes a regular part of your bingo game schedule.

Wholesale Bingo Supplies Scholarship Finalists Chosen

Posted by Bingo Bob at 8:17 am on Monday, March 29th, 2010

Well, after months of really great submissions (and a small amount admittedly not so great), we’ve finally narrowed down our entries to 6 Wholesale Bingo Supplies Scholarship Finalists. The Finalists will be contacted shortly so that we can verify their information. However, if you’ve submitted an entry and want to know if you made the cut, below are the finalists’ initials and cities of origin.

R.C., Kansas City, MO
A.M., San Diego, Ca
L.A., Arlington, TX
M.H., Rowlett, TX
T. A., Villa Park, CA
S. R., Leslie, MI

We don’t think there are any duplicants of entrants with the same initials and city, but just in case, don’t take the above as set in stone. If you are a finalist, you will be contacted shortly; likely by Monday, March 29th or Tuesday the 30th at the latest.

We were really thrilled with the amount of applications. It made the job a little harder than expected, but in a good way. Thanks to everyone who participated, and check back here in the future for the announcement of our winner.

Wholesale Bingo Supplies Scholarship Finalists……

Posted by Bingo Bob at 9:31 am on Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

will be announced (and contacted) this Friday on this blog.

We know, we know……We were supposed to have announced the finalists last week, but we’ve had a really large amount of submissions for our bingo scholarship (which is great), and it’s taken us longer than expected to go through them. We’ve also had a hard time getting the judges together due to travel and other things.

So, we apologize for the delay, but we promise to have the finalists by Friday. Oh, and because of the delay, we’ll be extending the time accordingly to allow for the winner to submit the proper paperwork, etc. Thanks for your patience.

Veterans' Clubs Seek Smoking Ban Exemption

Posted by Bingo Bob at 11:56 am on Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Some Michigan Veterns Clubs are seeking an exemption to the upcoming smoking ban for their private organizations. They have started a petition drive and would like to present the collected signatures to lawmakers on April 3rd.

From ClickonDetroit.com:

At American Legion Post 179 in Grandville, Army veteran Mike Stapleton of Jenison and others have signed the petition.

“It’s wrong for lawmakers to tell us private clubs what to do,” said Stapleton, 61, of Jenison, who served in the Vietnam and Desert Storm wars.

”This (smoking) should be up to members. When we were under fire, being shot at and bombed, we’d smoke when we got a break to calm our nerves and relax.”

The smoking ban covers all bars, restaurants and workplaces, but cigar bars and the gaming floors of existing casinos are exempt.
